From January 1, 2025, the Klaipėda City Council decision on the Tourist Fee comes into effect. A tourist fee of 1 (one) Euro per person per night applies to short-term stays in accommodation facilities within the city of Klaipėda.
The tourist tax is intended to support measures that increase tourist flows in Klaipėda, improve leisure and tourism infrastructure, enhance the quality of cultural and tourism services while reducing seasonality, and boost Klaipėda’s tourist appeal and city recognition.
The collection of the tourist tax is the responsibility of accommodation service providers—not only hotels but also private individuals providing short-term accommodation services. Accommodation service providers are required to inform tourists about this fee, collect it, and quarterly declare and pay the collected amount into the account specified by the Klaipėda City Municipality Administration by submitting the data declaration. The declaration and payment of the fee is completed online.
The tax period is a quarter, for which the local fee is calculated and paid. The local fee must be declared and paid for the tax period by the 25th day of the following month, according to the amount specified in the Declaration.
