Education
- In 1986, graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (now Kaunas University of Technology) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering for chemical industry machinery and equipment.
- In 1988, completed advanced legal courses at the Faculty of the Ukrainian Law Academy (now the National University of Internal Affairs of Ukraine) in Kharkiv.
Work experience
- 2000–2002: Director of AB "Fleet Engineering Center."
- In 2002, became an advisor to the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania.
- 2002–2009: Secretary at the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania.
- 2009–2011: Director of Logistics for the UAB "Achemos Group" concern; chairman or member of the board of logistics companies.
- 2011–2012: Consultant at UAB "Lyrava."
- 2013–2019: Director General of the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority.
- 2019-2023: Member of the Klaipėda City Council.
Awards
- In 2003, A. Vaitkus was awarded the III Degree Georgiy Medal "Honor. Glory. Labor." by Ukraine for the international intermodal rail project "Viking."
- In 2003, he received a diploma from the International Academic Rating of Popularity "Golden Fortune" for cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania in the field of transport.
- In 2006, he was recognized for his successful efforts in enhancing Lithuania's status as a maritime and transit country in the global market, receiving the honorary diploma "Person of the Year 2005 in the Maritime and Transport Industry" from the international business magazine "Jūra-More-Sea."
- In 2007, he was awarded the Portuguese Order of Merit.
- In 2009, A. Vaitkus received the Honorary Badge Diploma from the Lithuanian Association of Maritime Cargo Companies for his significant contribution to creating a favorable environment for the development of Lithuania's maritime ports industry, ensuring its safe and efficient operation.
- In 2014, he was awarded the Ministry of Economy's Medal for Business Contributions.
- In 2014, he received the Second Degree Silver Labour Star from the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts for contributions to Lithuania's economy.
- In 2015, he was honored with the Ministry of Transport's honorary badge "For Merit in the Transport System."
- In 2016, he received the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists' "Knight of the Profession" badge.
- In 2018, he was awarded the Honorary Badge of the Lithuanian Maritime Transport Worker.
