Szczecin is a dynamic city and county located in northwestern Poland, at the mouth of the Oder River where it flows into the Szczecin Lagoon. As the capital of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and home to around 400,000 residents, Szczecin was granted city rights in 1243 and has since become an important regional center.

The city is home to prestigious educational institutions, including the University of Szczecin, the Pomeranian Medical University, the West Pomeranian University of Technology, the Maritime University, the Academy of Art, and the Higher Theological Seminary. These institutions contribute to Szczecin's distinctive academic and cultural image.

Szczecin is a key port city, particularly for cargo transported via the Oder from countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Germany. The city is renowned for its shipbuilding industry, as well as for food processing, metalworking, fertilizer production, and the manufacture of synthetic textile machinery.

Szczecin is also the cultural center of western Poland. It is home to four universities, several theaters, a philharmonic, libraries, and the National Museum. Surrounded by picturesque parks, lakes, and historical landmarks, Szczecin invites visitors to explore Szczecin Cathedral, the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle, and the National Museum. Since 1999, Szczecin has also hosted NATO's Multinational Corps Northeast headquarters, highlighting the city’s importance both regionally and internationally.
