Hotline 8 640 93342 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays) – information on provision of health care services in Klaipėda to foreigners who have left Ukraine due to the military actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine

Health care services (emergency, outpatient, and inpatient services) are provided:

  • For children under 18: apply to Public Institution Klaipėda Children’s Hospital (VšĮ Klaipėdos vaikų ligoninė) (K. Donelaičio Str. 7, Klaipėda) around the clock (;
  • For adults: to the following public institutions:

- Klaipėda University Hospital (VšĮ Klaipėdos universitetinė ligoninė) (Liepojos Str. 41, Klaipėda) (;

- Klaipėda Seamen’s Hospital (VšĮ Klaipėdos jūrininkų ligoninė) (Liepojos Str. 45, Klaipėda) (;

- Republican Hospital in Klaipėda (VšĮ Respublikinė Klaipėdos ligoninė) (S. Nėries Str. 3, Klaipėda) (


Foreigners from Ukraine, who are covered by compulsory health insurance, are provided with all health care services and are reimbursed for medicines and medical aids, as are residents of the Republic of Lithuania. A national visa or residence permit issued in Lithuania by the Migration Department on a humanitarian basis entitles Ukrainian citizens to employment. Employed persons and their minor children become insured and receive all health care services financed by compulsory health insurance, which are documented in the same way as for Lithuanian citizens. Such an insured person should choose a primary health care institution and a family doctor (general practitioner) there, i.e., to register with the selected institution (the list and contacts of primary health care institutions operating in Klaipėda can be found HERE).

The following health care/treatment services are provided to foreigners from Ukraine, who are not covered by compulsory health insurance, but are registered in the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania these services are paid for by the State Health Insurance Fund under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania:

  • Preventive screening and vaccination of minors;
  • Emergency medical care, pregnancy care, care during labour and delivery, and other necessary personal health care services, the failure to provide which could lead to a deterioration in health to the extent that requires emergency medical care;
  • public health services;
  • Medical rehabilitation services for refugees injured during military operations in Ukraine (including those aliens who have not registered in the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, if they were unable to do so due to objective reasons).

Furthermore, various additional health care services in Klaipėda are provided free of charge by both private and state medical institutions and public health institutions on their own initiative.

Emotional support and psychological help. The Ministry of Health, together with partners, provides assistance free of charge. Call 1809 to reach an emotional support line in Russian, operating daily with the help of volunteers. Video consultations with psychologists and psychotherapists for adults and children will be available free of charge on the platform. More information can be found here:

  • Emotional and psychological assistance is also provided by the Klaipėda Pedagogical Psychological Service. The psychological and emotional assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war and their families is provided by telephone and, if necessary, upon arrival at the Klaipėda Pedagogical Psychological Service at Debreceno Str. 41. The assistance is provided in Russian, English, German and Italian. Vaccination against COVID-19 (free of charge)

Residents of Ukraine who moved to the Republic of Lithuania/are unable to return home due to military action by the Russian Federation may register for vaccination against COVID-19 by calling 1808 (+370 66 01 1808, if using a non-Lithuanian mobile network operator). The hotline operators will register you with the health care institutions in Klaipėda carrying out the vaccination.
